Florence Caroline Zeidler also fondly known as “Grandma Eisler”, was born on November 28, 1894 in Wisconsin to Mary Lomira Church and Charles Edward Zeidler. She was married in Winnebago, Illinois on Jan. 27 1920 at age 25 to Harold John Cullen, who passed away in 1942 at age 49. Florence remarried Ralph Eisler, while she was a dietician. Florence died on September 5th, 1987 in St. Paul, MN at age 92. She loved to refer to her age in “Celsius” instead of “Fahrenheit” to make her sound younger.
Interview with Florence Zeidler, 1984
This is the only known recorded interview with Florence Zeidler, interviewed by her grandaughter Paula Kelly and son-in-law Robert Kelly on her 90th birthday. In the video she talks about memories of her family growing up, her grandfather being a Civil War veteran from the battle of Shiloh, her ancestor Henry Madole who invented the Madole hammer, her grandmother Church helping to bring spring water and light oil lamps. She is seen with her granchildren and then discusses birthday parties at her Wilder retirement home.
